Focal Point: 6 Pictures from Mt. Eden, the Peak of Auckland

Mt. Eden is a dormant volcano near Auckland, New Zealand and is the highest point on the isthmus bearing the same name. The peak is easily accessible through public transportation and the best time to visit are either of the golden hours (sunset or sunrise).

The views from this locality are some of the best in Auckland and should be on any one’s bucket list of places to go in the city. The sunset there on New Year’s Eve two years ago is to this day, one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever experienced. If New Zealand is Middle Earth, Mordor is definitely somewhere west of Mt. Eden 🙂

And there, from high above Auckland I saw:
“a great Eye… lidless… wreathed in flame.”
