Destination of the Month: Florence in 30 Pictures – A Focal Point

Most people would think March is too early to visit Florence.  But, they would be wrong.  I contend that spring is one of the best times of the year to visit this Tuscan capital on the Arno.

While you may not get to experience the best of Tuscany as a whole (the vineyards and the rolling hills don’t really start shining until late-April – mid-May), there is so much to see in Florence that you are better off covering Florence on a separate trip.  By visiting Florence in March, not only will you avoid the peak season crowds, but you get to dedicate your entire time there to Florence.  The rest of Tuscany and wine country is so rich that it truly deserves a trip on its own.

Moreover, the weather also starts warming up quite a bit by March so you can explore the beautiful streets of this historical city to your heart’s content.  In fact, we visited Florence in the second week of March and we got to experience some rather pleasant days with highs of 14-17 Celsius (mid 50-60s in Fahrenheit).
