1 day left before Hyatt Category Changes!

I just wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder that some of the best uses for the Hyatt annual free night certificate, from the Hyatt credit card by Chase, are disappearing on Aug 1.

According to Hyatt there are 50 hotels moving to a higher category and 56 hotels moving to a lower one. Though this may seem acceptable, there are 4 hotels on the list going to category 5, which sting: Hyatt Centric Park City, Hyatt Centric Chicago, Hyatt Regency Jersey City, and Hyatt Regency San Francisco.

Here’s why they sting:

  • As Sasidhar mentioned in his post earlier, the Hyatt Regency Jersey City features the best location of any hotel on any side of the river for views of the New York skyline.

A long exposure shot I captured right across from the Hyatt Regency Jersey City.
  • The Hyatt Annual Night was a cheap way to stay in Park City, Utah during the ski season when rates are exorbitantly high ($500+)
  • Hyatt Centric Chicago was one of Hyatt’s newest hotels in Chicago, and the only full service hotel with 100% renovated rooms in downtown Chicago. I stayed there recently and I was impressed with the service, and location (2 blocks from Millennium Park). It also has a club lounge open to everyone, which features a few small snacks, coffee, soft drinks, and board games.

The Lounge at the Hyatt Centric is open to ALL CUSTOMERS and offers some snacks and soft drinks
  •  Hyatt Regency SF is also a hotel I’ve stayed at before and it certainly provides an awesome location for exploring San Francisco being across from the Bay Bridge, and much of the shopping. Since Grand Hyatt San Francisco is already a category 5, this just leaves Hyatt Fisherman’s Wharf (which I’ve heard as being the inferior  property of the 3) as the remaining full service SF location where your annual night is redeemable.

Bottom Line: This is a pretty big hit to the Hyatt annual free night benefit. If y
ou have the certificate and plan on being in one of these 4 cities, use it up by tomorrow!

I copied and pasted the table for the properties going up in price for your convenience. I also put in bold once again the ones you need to be concerned about for your annual free night certificates.

*You might be wondering why I have these italicized. It’s because I would look out for these properties to make another move up in a year since they have the last two times.

Have you spotted any other properties, that we should be concerned about?
