According to Gizmodo, and several news outlets, the 2 mile radius around Trump Tower is now restricted airspace until January 21, 2017, when he moves into the White House.
For those of you that don’t know where Trump tower is, it is in the SE corner of Central Park and is clearly visible from the Top of the Rock observation deck. Here is a picture that Sasidhar took from the observation deck a year ago:
This as if New York La Guardia isn’t already delay ridden enough for passengers. You may remember Trump referring to La Guardia as America’s third world airport earlier (it truly is a nightmare). I’m not sure he will be helping its case, especially with the winter travel season coming up. 🙂
Anyway just one more thing to look forward to in the coming months as ATC reroutes planes around Manhattan. I guess we should be glad that it isn’t 30 miles though because that would pretty much shut down 2/3 of New York’s major airports. This completely discounts the number of times Trump will be landing at La Guardia on his private plane, and therefore disrupting airport operations.
On another note: I’m very curious to know what the secret service code name for Trump will be 🙂
Wondering what will happen to his 757 with the Trump name on it after he takes office? Will they remove the name for security reasons….I would!
Knowing him he may use it as a dummy plane and order more 🙂 He’s not paying lol Then again he has air force one so he may put that one away for later.
