Quick Review: JW Marriott New Delhi-Aerocity

On a recent layover in New Delhi I didn’t have enough time to go into the city, but just too much time to spend at the airport. While I arrived in New Delhi at 2pm from Hyderabad, my flight to Amsterdam wasn’t set to depart until 2am the following day.

I had a Marriott Annual Free Night Certificate  (Cat 1-5) from the Chase Marriott Credit Card, which was expiring very soon so it seemed like the ideal time to use it. The room rates were 16000 INR on this particular night so it made even more sense.

We arrived at the hotel via prepaid taxi, which we grabbed at the airport. It cost around 300 INR (4 USD) and was just a quick 15 minute ride. As soon as we arrived, the bellman took our luggage out of the vehicle and ushered us into the lobby for check in.

The lobby is an elegant space well adorned with flowers in various arrangements. Check in was a fairly swift process and we were handed our keys within a matter of minutes.

We were assigned an Executive King Room on this particular stay. No upgrades were available because the hotel was packed for an upcoming convention.

The room was quite spacious and well appointed with a desk, chaise lounge chair, big screen TV, and a king sized bed.

As a Marriott Platinum Member, the welcome amenity consisted of 3 apples and a couple of water bottles. Power outlets and light switches are conveniently located right next to the beds

There was restroom, which had both a walk in shower and a soaking tub. The toiletries were Aromatherapy branded and weren’t really special in any way so I didn’t collect them on my way out.

Wi-Fi in the room was free and decently speedy. Breakfast was complimentary for Platinum Members at the hotel restaurant but we left well before the opening time of 6 am. I’ll have the review of that from the next time I visit.

Oh btw, on the way out we decided to use the hotel shuttle service since it was an odd time to call a cab or UBER. The hotel car cost ~1300 INR which is approximately 18 USD.

Bottom Line:

The JW Marriott Aerocity is a fine place to stay near the Delhi Airport (DEL). The hotel is very aesthetically pleasing and the service was all round pretty good. I don’t have much data regarding the quality of food, since we were there for such a limited time so more on that the next time I visit. You are pretty much spoiled for choice in terms of hotels where you can redeem points in the Aerocity area with there being an Andaz, Holiday Inn, Aloft, and Marriott. This is probably the classiest of the bunch from what I can tell. I will have to check out the Andaz next time.
