I had a quick peek at the Plaza Premium Lounge in New Delhi before heading to the gate for my flight to Hyderabad. The lounge is surprisingly the less premium of the lounges in Terminal 3 and is right next to the Air India lounge I covered earlier.
Access to the Priority Pass Lounge is open to business class passengers of a select few airlines, and Priority Pass membership from the AMEX Platinum, Citi Prestige, and Chase Sapphire Reserve cards. The lounge entrance was surprisingly crowded when I arrived because there was some confusion about who was entitled to enter. When the agent saw my Priority Pass card in my hand, he let me through immediately.
There really isn’t much to write home about regarding the lounge. There is plenty of seating arranged in a decently spaced out manner, and decent Wi-Fi access (felt like it was faster than the AI lounge next door).
However there are no showers or restrooms for that matter in the lounge and though there was a decent buffet spread, none of it looked appetizing. I’m not sure what is offered at other times of the day, but the dinner selection was just average. And I’m no expert on drink selection, but it looked like there weren’t that many great cocktails on offer either.
Overall, I would say that the Plaza Premium Lounge is a decent one with free Wi-Fi access (always a plus in a foreign country), but there really isn’t much else going for it. Crowding became an issue within minutes of entering of my entering the lounge. So if I needed Wi-Fi I would come here, but otherwise I would rather spend it near the gate or wandering the shops and concessions in Delhi’s Terminal 3. Basically not the best Plaza Premium lounge I have seen.
