While connecting at SFO, we stumbled upon the United Arrivals Lounge in Terminal 3 (after customs). The lounge is a rarity when it comes to lounges in the U.S let alone the United lounge network. It is perhaps the only Airline Arrivals Lounge in the U.S unless there is a lounge for passengers in JFK that I don’t know about. Access is restricted to Polaris customers arriving into San Francisco before noon and is located just after baggage claim in SFO’s Terminal 3. The place is a modest establishment with free Wi-Fi, a decent continental breakfast, some hot buffet items, and 12 showers. The lounge was completely empty at 10 am that morning and the staff were extremely gracious and helpful. It was certainly a decent way to freshen up before our flight back to DFW.
There is certainly nothing to complain about at this lounge, but there is also absolutely nothing to rave about. I should note however though that some of the toilets in the shower rooms were broken and the lounge in general looked like it needed refurbishment. With the upcoming updates to United lounges, maybe they will decide to renovate this lounge as well? The problem is I’m not quite sure how many people are aware of this lounge or the use cases for it given that it looked empty.
